How do I know if my record is a personal recording?

A few clues. It is often smaller than a normal record, sometimes 5 or 6 inches across. It may have a plain, handwritten, or typed paper label instead of a printed record-company one. The grooves may run from the inside out instead of the usual outside in. And it is frequently a thin coating over a metal, glass, or cardboard core. If you are not sure, bring it in or send me a clear photo and I will tell you what you have.
